Dear Member

I suppose every period has its own problems but it seems to me that the  Norwich period of thirty to fifty years ago was much calmer and simpler than now.  We now have show seasons disrupted again arbitrarily, we have bad weather on a scale hardly ever seen, rising prices everywhere. Yet the shows continue, by and large, which is in itself a credit to our fancy.  We have movement on integration to all - canary events and greater publicity at shows like Bird Show of the Year so the Norwich Fancy continues to adapt.

It would be very sensible if we could see a positive commitment by politicians and media towards bird keeping which is so beneficial to community cohesion. I feel that we all need to continue to encourage new members into the Norwich fraternity: we require younger members quite urgently.

On a brighter note, congratulations are due to Ken Grigg who won the Best in Show and the Warren Park Trophy at our Club Show in January.

I wish you all the best of success in the forthcoming season and hope that the entries at shows will increase in 2008.

Please send in your Ballot papers with your votes.  This is very important for the successful running of the Club.

Yours

Jack Mclellan

President

Club Show will again be held with Scottish National CBS on January 10th and 11th 2009.  Our judge is S Bellamy.  Scottish National will have the schedule on their website, so we are told.

Club requires a list of judges from other clubs to ensure reciprocity; societies should have a list of all the judges to help them with their choice.

The paint colour for show cages is changing since it is no longer being manufactured.  Club still has stocks in hand and this will be acceptable.  Keith Ferry is dealing with this information.  Members will be kept informed.

G Noble of Aberdeen won the ten free rings.  Patronage meeting is on May 10th at 2pm Low Port Linlithgow.
